1d6 Magic Items that I have tried to sell

Shop Policy

I worked in a charity shop (thrift store for Americans and opportunity shop for Australians) last summer and while I was there, the post office would regularly give us any items that no-one picked up. Most of the time it was normal things like IKEA Furniture, Clothing and jewelry. Sometimes there would be items sent in that felt like magic items. I have adapted some of these unique items to be more suitable for your favorite elfgame. While I was there I realized that magic item shops and people willing to buy them should either not exist or be exceptionally rare.

1. Thimbleby's Tall Thumb Ring

It is a small, crudely crafted ring made of jade. The ring adjusts in size to fit the wearer. It feels unusually warm. When worn, the ring will glow blue, a sign that it has recharged. Once the wearer takes off the ring, place it on a surface and once the ring moves, a large, green, spectral thumb shaped like the wearer's will pop out from the center of the ring. once the ring activates, it takes an hour to recharge.

2. Galgen's Guide to Gold Grabbing

This book smells of dust, with it's loosely bound hardback and faded yellow cover promising untold riches. It has a map (within the dungeon or in the wilderness) with 1d4 places marked as places where "entrepreneurs can streamline their grind to the top". The map marks the location of mimic. The marks are replaced with pictures of mimics revealing the truth on how to be "The Ultimate Meal" if the book is soaked in water.

The tablet with what seems like graffiti?

 3.  The Obsidian Tablet

It is a small piece of obsidian scratched with unusual markings. If the tablet is slotted into a incomplete brick wall, the tablet starts to shout, encouraging those nearby to exercise. Creatures within 30ft have to make a save versus paralysis. Failure results in the target being forced to exercise. Each turn while under this effect they can save to end the effect.

4. Decaying Hope of Dalry

This brown, foot-tall clay pot has a rotting apple inside. It causes metal to rust, wood to rot and the item inside the pot begins to decay if an item is left in the pot for a turn. Living creatures in the pot age faster as every minute ages them a year. If the pot is empty for more than an hour, it starts ageing the nearest object or creature.

 5. Amulet of White Lies

This small blue amulet is cold to the touch. It casts charm person 5 times a day. However, enchantment is a dark form of magic, rivaling necromancy in terms of immorality. Hirelings check loyalty each time it is used and all NPCs that see the amulet reroll their reaction.

6. Beast Cards of Baravar

These 10 cards are empty. They have the Baravar coat of arms on the back. The card can be revealed and can trap a creature inside by pressing the card against their skin. The target rolls a save against death. Failure results in the creature gets sucked into the card. They are trapped indefinitely and can be released by ripping the card in two.
