Fathach Character Class: The Failed Arbiter

In the previous posts, I talked around the PCs, but now let's talk about who are these PCs. In the starter set I plan to include 6 out of 36 classes. They are inspired by mythic bastionland of being a weird creature with some equipment. Each class has some background text, an inciting question, some equipment, a passive ability and an active ability. Here's an example of one.

The Arbiter

The villages cry for the storms to go away, for children to survive a plague and a lover wanting one last look at their partner. They look for magic and they look for you. You wander across a land with hidden miracles dancing on your tongue. What a shame you can't find them.

What miracle is out of your reach and what stopped the community from throwing you out?

Passive: While the world of magic is out of your reach, the mundane world surrounds you. Automatically pass "There is no one on watch"

Active: You have Guilt in all your min Palace. You don't start with anything else in your mind Palace Every time you get a belief or a bond, remove one guilt. When you remove guilt you instantly make 2 successes towards your next downtime action or You can pick a creature other than you and one mind related condition is instantly cured. You gain guilt if a ritual removes a bond or belief.

This class is my "cleric" of sorts. They help the party and they are fragile early on but they can help keep a party lasting longer in the wilds. They are the stars of the downtime system. A lot of classes interact with one of the inventories to do weird things. I hope they don't cause too many arguments at the table. Their inspiration comes from the real life TV tennis men that would bring an Atari to people's houses that people could play. They were around in rural Ireland (at least in my area) in the 80's.

Average mind Palace of a successful Arbiter

[1] So there are 3 different types of inventory. The Mind Palace stores Rituals (like above) and Beliefs (what does your character care about, their bonds and faction relationships). The Body temple stores Conditions and Organs (we will cover that in the next class). Lastly the Bag Store stores Equipment and Assets (this will be covered in a future class). You get 10 slots of each. This can be increased as part of leveling up (to be designed later).  This is inspired by Mausritter and Explorer's Design Jackian Magic
